This 7 week course concentrates on gaining the majority of the mileage required before taking your RYA Yachtmaster exam. Increase the number of locations you sail in, knowledge of foreign ports and procedures abroad as you sail in Mediterranean waters from our Gibraltar base and the Solent from our base in Southampton.
Additionally you will complete courses such as RYA First Aid & Radar and a Yachtmaster Preparation week to ensure you have received all the necessary training and more before your exam.
Course Prerequisites: You should have the knowledge and experience to RYA Coastal Skipper practical and theory level or equivalent and also have a VHF Radio Licence.

A 14 day programme of several passages in and around Gibraltar’s tidal water including a distance voyage to the Costa de Sol and cross tidal challenges of sailing to Morocco. The focus of these passages is to improve mooring and navigational skills in unfamiliar waters, including sailing in the busy shipping lanes of the Gibraltar Straits. Included will be time off to enjoy the sights and experience the delights of these foreign ports.

During the five days you will visit many of the Solent’s harbours and rivers to explore them night and day and at different states of tide. Together with your instructor you will revisit in detail the areas studied with the intention to test your ability to take safe responsibility of a yacht, and her crew.
